NYPD Officer Shoots And Kills Unarmed Man In Brooklyn

The police are at it again, yet another unarmed 28 year old Brooklyn man was shot dead on Thursday night November 20th and police say it was just an ‘unfortunate tragedy’ because he wasn’t
targeted. Can someone please stop these people from shedding innocent blood

” The victim, Akai Gurley, (pictured above) had spent the evening at his girlfriend’s apartment inside the Louis Pink housing projects. The couple left the seventh floor apartment around 11:15 p.m. and tried to take an elevator down to the bottom floor. When the elevator wouldn’t work, they entered the stairwell.”

Two officers, meanwhile, were conducting a vertical patrol — also known as a top to bottom patrol — inside the building. Upon entering the “dark” stairwell on the eighth floor, Bratton said, Officer Peter Liang drew his gun and flashlight as a safety precaution.

That’s when Gurley and his girlfriend — identified by the New York Daily News
as Melissa Butler — also entered the stairwell. At that moment, Liang fired one round from the eighth floor landing. Gurley, who was on the seventh floor landing, was struck in the chest.

The wounded man and his girlfriend then ran down the stairs before Gurley collapsed on the fifth floor. Under instructions from a 911 operator, Butler then tried to administer first aid. Gurley was transported to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton said that according to a preliminary investigation, “it appears this may have been an accidental discharge.” Gurley “was not engaged in any criminal activity of any type. He didn’t do nothing wrong. He was just standing there and
they shot him. He was an innocent man.” Bratton said.

Liang, Bratton said, has been on the force less than 18 months and was on probationary assignment to the housing bureau. Liang and the other officer were taken to the hospital to be treated for tinnitus, which is a ringing noise inside
the ears, often caused by gunfire.

Bratton said he talked Friday morning to Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson, who’s investigating the incident. NYPD Internal Affairs is also investigating.

Josh Gad Mourns Death of Mike Nichols, Bill Cosby’s Jeopardized Legacy

This week marked wasn’t a good one for two Holywood legends .

Multi award winning director Mike Nichols, who is one of the few stars to boast of all complete EGOT (winning Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards),passed away on Wednesday, Nov.

19, and Bill Cosby, one of the most beloved television personalities and comedians, finds his legacy diffuse into the air, perhaps forever, after years of widespread allegations of sexual
abuse have resurfaced.

Actor Josh Gad, who voiced Olaf in Frozen and played Steve Wozniak in Jobs, talked about the legacies of the two men in an emotional new column for USA Today.

Titling the piece “A legacy cemented, a legacy tarnished,” Gad, 33, compared the reputation that Nichols leaves behind with that of Cosby’s tainted honor.

Nichols died of a sudden cardiac arrest at the age of 83 after a storied entertainment career, which included films such as Working Girl, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and the Oscar-winning The Graduate, and Broadway work like his 2012 Death of a Salesman revival, The Odd Couple in the 1960s, and 1984’s The Real Thing.

He was married to Diane Sawyer for 26 years and his death sparked an outpouring of tributes, which remembered Nichols as a brilliant and kind man.

Meanwhile, Cosby has found stars and
collaborators distancing themselves from
him in recent weeks. As more and more
women continue to come forward with their own stories, the Emmy winner, 77, has lost his upcoming projects with Netflix and NBC, and TV Land has pulled rerun episodes of the eponymous sitcom that cemented his worldwide fame in the ’80s.

“Two legacies that have been all but assured of their place in history are now on completely different trajectories,” Gad writes.

“On the one hand, you have a man, who by all accounts, was generous, loving and beyond respectful. On the other you have a man who is not only being accused of raping multiple women, but doing it in a manner that is so dark and premeditated as to suggest a behavior usually reserved for serial sociopaths.”

“One is being remembered today by dignitaries and titans, while the other is being called out by alleged victims and a ravenous media,” he continued. “As the lights dim on Broadway for the great Nichols, the alarm bells will seemingly only grow louder for Cosby.”

The same week that representatives for Broadway announced that the famed theaters will dim their lights on Friday, Nov. 21, in honor of Nichols, Cosby refused to comment on the ever-growing scandal of his dark past.

“Of this I am certain — today we have lost two titans, one involuntary and one who’s presumable choices have cost him
everything,” Gad notes. “None of us can be judge, jury and executioner, but as the accusations continue to fly and each one sounds resoundingly familiar, it is safe to say that Mr. Cosby’s legacy is in as much jeopardy as Mr. Nichols’ is all but assured.”

Oh Cosby what a show of shame

5 things to know about Chris Hemsworth, ‘Sexiest Man Alive’

When you’re talking about Chris Hemsworth being named People magazine’s new Sexiest Man Alive, don’t make the mistake of calling him “that guy from ‘The Hunger Games.'”

No, Chris Hemsworth is the ripped Australian actor who’s made a name for himself as the hammer-wielding Thor in Marvel’s blockbuster movies. The Hemsworth who does star in “The Hunger Games” franchise is actually Hemsworth’s younger brother, Liam.

While the two siblings have competed for a role once before — they actually both auditioned to play Marvel’s Norse god, with Liam being a serious contender — there’s no beef between them about Chris landing at the top of People magazine’s “sexy” list.

“Liam’s been good; we’ve been throwing
sexy looks back and forth all week,” Hemsworth, 31, said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday, where his People magazine cover was revealed. “He’s been a real team player.”

And what does Hemsworth himself think
of his sexy status?

“I’m most excited about the ‘alive’ portion of that statement,” Hemsworth joked. “The sexy is a bonus, and I’m flattered.” Aside from his hotness, here are a few other things you should know about the star:

Before he was Thor, he was a TV star Down Under Chris Hemsworth earned his first acting credit in 2002, and in 2004 he landed the role of Kim Hyde on the Australian soap opera “Home and Away.” After starring on the series for three years, Hemsworth moved on to the big screen, landing a part in J.J. Abrams’ 2009 “Star Trek” as George Kirk.

He’s actually the middle Hemsworth brother There are two Hemsworth siblings that are currently dominating our movie screens, but there’s actually a third Hemsworth brother, Luke. He’s the eldest, and is three years older than
Chris.

“We grew up surfing and stuff,” Liam, 24, told Details magazine of their upbringing in Melbourne, Australia. “That’s why we can laugh (at the movie industry). This business is ridiculous.”

He’s married to Spanish actress Elsa Pataky Just as Chris Hemsworth’s reputation as Hollywood’s newest heartthrob was taking off, he settled down and tied the knot with Spanish
actress Elsa Pataky in 2010.

When his wife learned that she’s married to the “Sexiest Man Alive,” she thought “it was pretty funny,” Hemsworth told People. “We had a good laugh about it.”

Perhaps that’s because, in the Hemsworth household, Pataky still reigns as “the sexiest thing in the world,” Hemsworth said. He’s a major family man Chris and Elsa have been steadily building a family since they wed in 2010.
In 2012, the couple welcomed their first child, daughter India Rose, and in March 2014 they added twin boys to their
brood. With his movie commitments, Hemsworth has admitted that it isn’t easy balancing fatherhood with his superhero duties.

“It makes it harder and harder to leave and go to work,” he told People of being a dad last year. “I enjoy being at home a lot more than I ever have.”

He’s not only about Marvel movies So far, Hemsworth has starred in two “Thor” movies — 2011’s “Thor” and 2013’s “Thor: The Dark World” — and he has a third sequel on the way. That’s not even counting the times he suits up to star in Marvel’s “Avengers” movies.

Between that demanding schedule, Hemsworth is squeezing in other dramatic work. In 2013, he starred as British race car driver James Hunt in “Rush,” and in 2015 he’ll appear in Ron Howard’s action adventure, “In the Heart of the Sea,” and a comedy called “Vacation.”

Iran still stalling as nuclear deadline looms: U.N. agency

Tehran has yet to explain away allegations it conducted atomic bomb research, the head of the U.N. nuclear agency said on Thursday, four days before a deadline for Iran and six world
powers to reach a deal on the Iranian nuclear program.

As U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry flies to Vienna for what are meant to be final talks to clinch a deal with Iran, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Yukiya Amano said he was still unable to provide “credible assurance” Iran had no undeclared nuclear material and activities.

The talks — which have dragged on for more a year — are aimed at setting limits on Iran’s nuclear program in return for an end to sanctions that have seriously
hurt its economy. As one of the conditions, Western officials say Iran must stop stonewalling the IAEA investigation into concerns Iran may have worked on designing a nuclear-armed missile, although some experts feel this should not be a deal-breaker.

“Iran has not provided any explanations that enable the agency to clarify the outstanding practical measures,” Amano told the U.N. agency’s 35-nation board of governors, also meeting in the Austrian
capital.

He was referring to information Iran was supposed to have given the IAEA by late August concerning allegations of explosives tests and other activity that
could indicate preparations for developing nuclear bombs.

Those allegations were set out in an IAEA report in 2011 based on intelligence from some 10 IAEA member states as well as the agency’s own investigation. It did not identify the countries but they
are widely believed to include the United States, Israel and some of Washington’s Western allies.

Iran denies any intention of seeking atomic weapons, saying its nuclear program is aimed at generating electricity. “I call upon Iran to increase its cooperation with the agency and to provide timely access to all relevant information, documentation, sites, material and personnel,” Amano said.

“TACTICS OF DELAY”
Iran’s IAEA envoy, Reza Najafi, said the allegations were based on “wrong and fabricated” information. To prove this, he told the IAEA board, Iran would be ready to give the U.N. agency “one managed access” to a western region, where, according to the allegations, explosives experiments took place.

The IAEA’s priority for its inquiry has been to visit another site, the Parchin military facility, refused by Iran. While the countries in talks with Iran — the United States, France, Germany, Britain, Russia and China — want Tehran to scale back its uranium enrichment program to lengthen the timeline for any covert bid to assemble nuclear arms, the IAEA is investigating possible research on designing an actual bomb.

Even though it has long been clear that the inquiry would not be completed before the target date for a deal with the powers, Western diplomats had hoped for more progress by now. Israel and hawkish U.S. lawmakers are likely to condemn any accord that they feel does not fully resolve the issue.

Israel’s envoy, Merav Zafary-Odiz, said the IAEA investigation was “simply stuck because Iran has never abandoned its longstanding tactics of delay, concealment and reluctance to cooperate” with the U.N. agency. Iran says it is Israel’s assumed atomic arsenal that threatens peace and stability in the Middle East.
