WoW ! Nigerian lesbian asylum seeker says she faces death sentence if deported

Image

As same sex rule keeps hunting the gay people in Nigeria, 46 year old Nigerian lesbian asylum seeker in the UK,
Adejumoke Apata, says she risks a
death sentence if she is deported to Nigeria.
Ms Apata says she fled Nigeria in 2004 and claims
that her girlfriend who refused to go with her, was
brutally murdered by vigilantes in 2012.
Before she left Nigeria, Adejumoke said she was
subjected to homophobic torture, persecution and a
brutal arrest after she was exposed as a gay woman.
She claims she was also sentenced to death by
stoning for being a lesbian. Continue…
Adejumoke, who is facing deportation, doesn’t want
to be deported and has started a campaign aimed at
persuading people to sign a petition against her
deportation.
“Returning to Nigeria is not an option for me,
because as well as a death sentence hanging over
me, I will face 14 years in prison due to the anti-
gay law that was passed by the Nigerian
Government in January 2014. I want to remain in
the UK in order to contribute positively to the
society and support my girlfriend, who I am now
engaged to,” Adejumoke said in a YouTube video.

WoW ! Blames Zara’s family for her death

Image

Yemisi Ilo, a creative consultant and project
manager, says she’s been living with Multiple
Sclerosis for nearly 10 years and feels that Zara
Gretti’s situation shouldn’t have deteriorated to the
point of death. She feels ignorance and not MS killed
the singer, who passed away on Friday March 28th
about a year after making her illness public. Read
what Yemisi (pictured right) wrote below…
I also have MS and I am currently in Singapore –
where by His grace I will finally halt the
progression and hopefully and prayerfully reverse
some if not all disability. I spoke to Zara on
Tuesday. She said she was being given ‘Agbo’ ( herbal mixture) to
drink by her family and that it was killing her.
Those were her exact words. I told her to not drink
it. With an already compromised immune system
– Agbo is bullshit. It is poison. MS is not malaria. I
gave Zara clear details of exactly what she
needed to do to try to get well. It isn’t easy at all –
I should know but unfortunately for her, she was
surrounded by very ignorant people at the end
who felt that they knew best. I first heard of Zara
when I read about her on Linda Ikeji‘s blog a year
ago. I got in touch with her immediately and
started a Skype friendship. I was in London and
she was in the States (US). We spoke regularly.
When I went back to Lagos, we would WhatsApp and
I would call her. When she came to Nigeria in October
last year, I went to see her and she was surprised
that she could move better than me! I organized the
Battabox interview (which we did at my parents
house). She said she didn’t want to live with her
mum in the States – yet she had no one to look after
her there apart from her mum. She needed someone.
She even wanted to come and stay with me, but I am
married with small children and my own MS issues
were already enough for one house.
I am so pissed off, so angry, so fucking sad, teary and
frustrated. If I had been in Nigeria, I would have gone
to pick her up on Tuesday when I spoke to her. She
was so desperate to leave Ogba. She said she had a
return ticket to America and would try to leave ASAP.
I gave her my neurologist’s number so she could get
some steroids to help her get over the horrible
relapse she was having. Also to get her to explain the
condition to Zara’s family so they would realize that
this was not an ‘Agbo’ ( herbal mixture) matter. I have had MS for
nearly 10 years. My walking has deteriorated and I
am currently alternating between a walker and a
wheelchair. Zara was worried that she wouldn’t get
married and have kids – I told her that I had 4 kids
and was happily married and continued to work and
that there was hope. I have always been vocal about
MS and even appeared on a ‘Moments with Mo’
episode talking about it. There are many Nigerians
with MS – I know a few but they want to keep quiet.
Their families are embarrassed. Why? I don’t know? It
can happen to anyone at any time.
Granted, I am extremely fortunate to have the
strength of character and a loving and supportive
and enlightened family to deal with this HORRIBLE
condition that has led to this opportunity for me to
undergo Hemapioetic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) –
Google it. It has taken donations from over 100
people to do this. It costs over $150k (N24,727,501).
I told Zara that since she was a US citizen, she could
get on a trial at the University of Chicago under Dr.
Burt for free. I just want people to know that MS
didn’t kill Zara – ignorance did. As well as our
fatalistic attitude in Nigeria where everyone prays
and no one takes action.
Thanks
Yemisi.

WoW ! The Walking Dead season finale: Who dies in the end?

Image

The closing of one door on “The Walking Dead”
invariably results in the opening of an unsettling new
storyline.

The fourth-season wrapup of AMC’s apocalyptic
zombie drama series provided a strangely satisfying
conclusion without really wrapping up anything.
And in a Walking Dead first, there were hardly any
walkers killed in the season closer. Instead, most of
the on-screen violence was human on human.

All spoiler alerts apply from this point onward.
The entire fourth campaign of The Walking Dead has
focused on character-building, starting with the
season-opener that found the once strong and united
group of survivors lead by sheriff Rick Grimes
(Andrew Lincoln) separated and cast to the wind
following the attack on their prison sanctuary.

Last night’s finale began with a flashback to the good
ol’ days back at the prison, with the sage – and since
decapitated – Hershel (Scott Wilson) dispensing
some of his trademark wisdom to Rick.
Cut to Rick sitting on the hood of a car, covered in
blood and clearly shocked at something horrible he
has just done.

The timeline then shifts backward slightly to show
Rick, son Carl (Chandler Riggs) and Michonne (Dani
Gurira) trudging along a country road en route to the
supposed survivor Shangri-La known as Terminus.
Out of the blue, Carl asks his father, “Who are we?”

As in: Are we the good guys now or the bad guys?
Soon after, the trio is ambushed by a group of thugs
that have been tracking Rick since he strangled one
of them in abandoned house three episodes before.

As it happens, the marauders have Rick’s former
compadre Daryl (Norman Reedus) among their ranks.
Daryl pleads for his friends’ lives, but receives only a
beating for his efforts. Rick goes all in and goes
berserk against the marauders, biting out a junk of
their leader’s neck and spitting it out in disgust.

Daryl and Michonne dispatch the rest.
As often happens on The Walking Dead, the shocking
brutality is immediately followed with a greeting
card-like moment: Rick tells Daryl that he is his
brother, thereby filling some sort of void that Daryl
has felt since his real brother Merle’s death.

Later in the episode, Michonne reveals to Carl the
reason why she originally dragged her child’s father
and his friend around as armless, jaw-less zombie
walkers: As it turns out, the two men had smoked
marijuana and in their incapacitated state had
allowed her son to be killed.
Carl responds by telling Michonne that there’s a
monster inside of him as well.
More flashbacks are thrown into the mix.
Viewers learn that it was originally Hershel’s idea for Rick to
abandon violence and become a farmer.
From there, Rick leads the group to Terminus and
realizes the compound isn’t quite the safe place it
promised to be after he spots one of the guides
wearing Glenn’s watch and riot gear.
Rick, Carl, Michonne and Daryl attempt to escape but
are immediately surrounded by the Terminus leader
Gareth and his goons. Gareth orders the newcomers
be put into a train car, where, in a fleeting moment of
joy, Rick is reunited with Glenn (Steven Yuen),
Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and other members of the
former prison survivors.
Still missing in action: Beth, Tyreese, Carol and Rick’s
baby daughter Judith.

And since viewers now have to wait at least six
months until the next new episode of The Walking
Dead, the season finale wrapped with a grim
declaration by Rick: “They’re messing with the wrong
people.”

WoW ! Missing Malaysia Airlines jet

Image

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said on Monday
the hunt for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 had no
time limit, despite the failure of an international
operation to find any sign of the plane in three weeks
of fruitless searching. A total of 20 aircraft and ships
were again scouring a massive area in the Indian
Ocean some 2,000 km (1,200 miles) west of Perth,
where investigators believe the Boeing 777 carrying
239 people came down

A ground crewman stands in front of a South Korean
P3 Orion after it returned from the search for missing
Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 in Perth, Australia,
Sunday, March 30, 2014. Australia’s Prime Minister
Tony Abbott said Sunday he was hopeful clues will
emerge soon to help find Flight 370 even though
searchers again failed to find jet debris, as relatives of
Chinese passengers on the plane protested in
Malaysia to demand the government apologize over
its handling of the search.

WoW ! Russian prime minister flaunts grip on Crimea with visit

Image

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev flaunted Russia’s grip on Crimea on
Monday by flying to the region and announcing plans
to turn it into a special economic zone, defying
Western demands to hand the region back to Ukraine.

The visit, hours after Russia held talks on Ukraine with
the United States, is likely to anger Kiev and the West,
which accuse president Vladimir Putin of illegally
seizing the Black Sea peninsula after a March 16
referendum they say was a sham.
Shortly after landing in Crimea’s main city of
Simferopol with many members of his cabinet,
Medvedev chaired a Russian government meeting
attended by Crimean leaders and outlined moves to
revive the region’s struggling economy.
“Our aim is to make the peninsula as attractive as
possible to investors, so that it can generate sufficient
income for its own development. There are
opportunities for this – we have taken everything into
consideration,” he told the televised meeting, sitting
at a large desk with Russian flags behind him.
“And so we have decided to create a special economic
zone here. This will allow for the use of special tax and
customs regimes in Crimea, and also minimize
administrative procedures.”

In comments that made clear Russia had no plans to
give back Crimea, he set out moves to increase wages
for some 140,000 state workers in Crimea, boost
pensions, turn the region into a tourism hub, protect
energy links with the peninsula and improve its roads,
railways and airports.
Russia’s swift takeover of Crimea, following the ouster
of Moscow ally Viktor Yanukovich as Ukraine’s
president in late February, has caused the biggest
crisis in East-West relations since the Cold War.
Medvedev’s visit underlined the impotence of the
West and Ukraine to force Russia out following the
formal annexation of Crimea, signed by Putin, on
March 21.
Medvedev arrived in Simferopol hours after U.S.
Secretary of State John Kerry met Russian Foreign
Minister Sergei Lavrov in Paris late on Sunday and
reiterated that Washington considered Russia’s
actions in Crimea “illegal and illegitimate”.

The United States and European Union have imposed
sanctions on Russian officials, lawmakers and allies of
Putin. They are threatening broader measures if
Russia, which has forces massed near Ukraine’s
eastern border, seeks to take more territory.
HEAVY FINANCIAL BURDEN
The absorption of Crimea and its 2 million residents
creates an additional financial burden on Russia,
which is struggling with slow growth, rising inflation,
a weak currency and unusually high capital flight this
year.
But Medvedev’s remarks indicated the Kremlin hopes
Crimea, which he said had “colossal prospects” for
tourism income, will become quickly self-sufficient.
Finance minister Anton Siluanov said last week that
Russia would spend up to 243 billion roubles ($6.82
billion) in Crimea this year, to be financed from the
budget reserve.
The ultimate cost of its action in Crimea is likely to be
far higher: analysts in a Reuters poll last week slashed
their forecasts for Russian economic growth.
The region has an estimated 55 billion rouble budget
deficit, and the peninsula has been dependent on
Ukraine for 85 percent of its electricity, 90 percent of
its drinking water and much of its food.
The reliability of those supplies is now in question.
The local authorities have said they will nationalize
Ukrainian state-owned business, including energy
producer Chernomorneftegaz which is exploring for oil
and gas offshore.
Apart from hosting a Russian naval base, Crimea’s
biggest industry is tourism as one of the former Soviet
Union’s few warm seaside resorts. But until now, 60
percent of visitors arrived from other parts of Ukraine,
mostly by train.

Making it an attractive destination for Russians will be
more difficult, since they mainly arrive by air and have
a wider choice of holiday destinations. Crimea would
have to compete with Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece and
Egypt, as well as Russia’s own brand new $50 billion
Black Sea Olympic resort in Sochi.
Kerry said after talks with Lavrov in Paris on Sunday
that progress on resolving the crisis over Ukraine
depended on a Russian troop pullback from Ukraine’s
borders.
Moscow has said the buildup is part of Russian
military exercises. It wants assurances that Russian-
speaking regions in eastern and southern regions of
Ukraine have extensive autonomy and wants Russian
established as the second state language

WoW ! Reality TV star Benzino shot by nephew in Mass.

Image

Reality TV star Benzino was
injured after being shot by his nephew on a
Massachusetts highway Saturday while riding in a
funeral procession for a family member, according
authorities and Benzino’s hip-hop magazine.
Benzino, whose real name is Raymond Scott, is a
cast member of the VH1 reality show “Love & Hip
Hop: Atlanta” and CEO of Hip-Hop Weekly. The
magazine confirmed on its website Saturday night
that Benzino had been shot.
The 48-year-old Benzino was traveling on Route 3
south of Boston just before noon when 36-year-old
Gai Scott pulled alongside and fired several shots
into a red SUV driven by Benzino, the Plymouth
County District Attorney’s Office said in a
statement. Officials say there had been growing
tension between the two.
Benzino, of Mansfield, Mass., got out of the SUV
after being struck and was taken by a passerby to
the Duxbury Police Department and then
transferred to a hospital.
Hip-Hop Weekly said he was shot in an arm, and
his back was grazed by a bullet.
He was listed in good condition, a spokeswoman
for South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth said
Sunday morning.
The magazine said Benzino was in the area to bury
his mother. He was heading to a church in
Plymouth at the time of the shooting, the District
Attorney’s Office said.
Police responding to the scene found the red SUV
in the middle of Route 3 with bullet holes and a
reddish brown substance believe to be blood inside
the vehicle. Officials said shell casings and
projectiles also were found at the scene.
Gai Scott, of Randolph, Mass., was taken into
custody and charged with assault with intent to
murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in
the Plymouth District Court.
The “Love & Hip Hop” series is known for its over-
the-top drama and fights — making it a ratings
success, but also a target for criticism. The fourth
season of the show’s New York series ended in
January. The third season of the Atlanta spinoff
debuts in May.
Benzino is a former co-owner of The Source
magazine. At its prime, The Source was the pre-
eminent magazine for rap, and it helped fuel the
rise of urban magazines such as XXL and Vibe.
Benzino left the publication in 2006 and later
launched Hip-Hop Weekly, which chronicles the
lives of urban music stars.
