WoW ! Curfew takes hold in troubled streets of Ferguson

A group of protesters angry at the shooting death of a black teenager by a
white police officer remained on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, early on Sunday minutes past a declared curfew, as police gathered nearby in a tense standoff.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency after a week of racially charged protests and looting over the Aug. 9 fatal shooting of 18-year-
old Michael Brown in the suburban St. Louis community.

The curfew will run from midnight until 5 a.m. CDT (0500 to 1000 GMT), officials said. The protesters remained in the street past the curfew under a downpour of rain, with some chanting, “No justice, no curfew, no peace”, while others implored the crowd not to move forward towards police.

Police estimated the number of protesters remaining in the street at about 150 people. On Saturday night, the mood among hundreds of protesters on a main road in Ferguson was tense and defiant, following a number of other demonstrations in the town in recent days. Dozens of helmet-clad officers holding full-length shields took position near demonstrators in the rain.

“The curfew is going to make things worse,” said protester Phonso Scott, 24. “I think the cops are going to get violent tonight, but they can’t lock us all up.”
A running series of protests erupted in Ferguson after police officer Darren Wilson, 28, shot and killed Brown as he and a friend walked down a street that runs through an apartment complex where Brown’s grandmother lives.

On Saturday afternoon, Nixon and other officials came face to face with angry members of the community during a tense news conference at a church near Ferguson.

“The eyes of the world are watching. This is the test of whether a community, this community, any community, can break the cycle of fear, distrust and
violence, and replace them with peace, strength and, ultimately, justice,” Nixon, a Democrat, told the gathering.

St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCullough, who has faced skepticism from some elected officials and community members over his ability to handle the case, on Saturday told a local public radio station he plans to have a grand jury begin to look at evidence in the shooting of Brown within days.

Tensions have been high all week but escalated on Friday evening, pitting mostly black protesters against mostly white police as the demonstrators swarmed through a residential and retail district that has become a center of the unrest, and some in the crowd looted a handful of stores.

Brown’s family and supporters have demanded for days that the officer who shot Brown be held accountable. The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating the shooting for any civil rights violations, and the St. Louis County Police department also has launched a probe.

CONFUSION OVER KILLING

The police version of Brown’s shooting differs markedly from witness accounts, including that of the friend who was walking with Brown at the time, Dorian Johnson, 22. In the police version, after Wilson asked Brown to move out of the road onto a sidewalk, Brown reached
into the patrol car and struggled with Wilson for the officer’s service gun.

Wilson, who sustained a facial injury, then shot Brown a number of times.
Johnson and at least one other witness have said the officer reached out through his car window to grab at Brown and the teenager was trying to get away from the officer when he was shot. Brown held up his hands in a sign of surrender but the officer got out of
his patrol car and shot Brown several times, they said.

FBI agents were at the scene of the shooting on Saturday interviewing residents, and civil rights activist Jesse Jackson also visited the site, leading a
prayer near a makeshift memorial to Brown just a few feet from where he died. The Reverend Al Sharpton has said he would lead a rally with Brown’s family in Ferguson on Sunday.

WoW !The other Darren Wilson: Officer in Brown shooting not the head of Ethical Society of Police

There is another St. Louis-area police officer named Darren Wilson, but he has nothing to do with the Michael Brown shooting. Darren R. Wilson is a sergeant with the St. Louis Police Department and the head of the Ethical Society of Police.

Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson announced today that the officer who shot and killed Michael Brown on Saturday is named Darren Wilson.

Wilson of the Ferguson Police Department is white.

Wilson the St. Louis sergeant is black.
Darren R. Wilson said people started posting his photo to social media when the name was announced.

“I was getting hate messages. My children were getting hate messages,” Wilson said in an interview USA TODAY Network.

In a Facebook post, the Ethical Society of Police wrote, “May I assure the world that this is not the President of the Ethical Society of Police’s Sergeant

Darren R. Wilson who is African-American, and happens to be an 18-year veteran of the St. Louis Police Department. I’m sure additional clarification statements will be released immediately.”

The society is an African-American organization that aims to “monitor and rectify the racial and ethical challenges that confront the St. Louis Police Department,” according to its Facebook page.

The Darren Wilson named in the Brown shooting is a six-year veteran of the police force and has never had disciplinary action.

WoW ! Police officer who shot and killed unarmed teen in Missouri finally named

The police officer who shot and killed black teenager Michael Brown on a street in Ferguson, St. Louis last Saturday August 9th has been named. His name is Darren Wilson and he’s supposedly ‘torn up’ over the shooting.

They are yet to release a pic of what the
officer looks like. Darren Wilson is said to be a six-year veteran of the Ferguson Police Department and has no history of
disciplinary action. The police claim the officer was treated for injuries after the shooting.

Officer Wilson claims Michael attacked him and struggled with him over his gun during the altercation. The Ferguson police chief in a press briefing today
gave a timeline of the minutes leading up to the shooting on Saturday afternoon.

“At 11.48am, Officer Wilson was at an unrelated ‘sick call’ with an ambulance. At 11.51am, a 911 call came in reporting a ‘strong-armed’ robbery at a convenience store, which included a description of two suspects.”

At 12.01pm, Officer Wilson made contact with Michael Brown who was walking with a friend. A second officer arrived on scene immediately following the shooting. At 12.05pm, a supervisor
arrived.

Chief Jackson said the ambulance that had been on the sick call responded to the shooting and provided medical assistance to Mr Brown – who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have said 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot dead after Officer Wilson encountered him and another man on the street. Police claim one of the men pushed the officer into his squad car, then physically assaulted him in the vehicle and struggled with the officer over the officer’s weapon.

At least one shot was fired inside the car.
The struggle then spilled onto the street, where Brown was shot multiple times.
Witnesses have said the officer fired on Brown as he tried to run away.

18 year-old Michael had been due to start classes at Vatterott College this past Monday, two days before he was killed. Michael was walking, unarmed, from a convenience store with another man to his grandmother’s apartment in Ferguson, when the police man confronted them.

WoW ! Michael Brown’s parents ask for justice in fatal shooting

The parents of Michael Brown, a teen who was fatally shot by an officer Saturday afternoon , spoke to the public about seeking justice and calling for an investigation in a Monday afternoon press conference. The family as well as attorney Ben Crump, who represented the parents of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, spoke out about seeking justice for Brown as well as a fair and efficient investigation into Saturday’s events.

Brown was killed Saturday afternoon by a Ferguson police officer. Witnesses say Brown had raised his hands to surrender when the officer fired the fatal shots. Police have not confirmed that information, and have only said that Brown was unarmed. Brown’s parents said they had planned to celebrate
the beginning of his education at a technical college Monday but now they’re planning a funeral.

No further details have been given for the funeral of Brown.

“That was my first-born son,”

Lesley McSpadden,
mother of Michael Brown, said.

“I just wish I could’ve been there to help him”

Brown’s father Michael Brown Sr. and McSpadden, asked for no further violence. Sunday night, looting and riots broke out in Ferguson as well as North
County that lead to more than 30 arrests and the burning down of a QuikTrip gas station.

“We don’t want no violence,” Brown Sr. said.

“Michael would have wanted no violence. We need justice for our son.”

Attorney Ben Crump said that Brown’s family deserves a

“fair and efficient investigation.”
“Their baby was executed in broad daylight,” he said.

“Executed before he was a man. We will not be silent. We will stand up.”

Crump asked if there are any witnesses to Saturday’s shooting to please come forward, and if you have any video evidence to please turn it over to law
enforcement. Crump said during a question and answer session with the public that the father of Trayvon Martin,
Tracy, who is a native of East St. Louis, has reached out to the parents to lend his support.

WoW ! Outrage in Missouri as 18yr old unarmed boy is shot dead by police

18 year old Michael Brown (pictured above) was shot dead yesterday Saturday August 9th by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Michael, who had just graduated high school and hoped to begin college in the fall, was on his way to his grandmother’s house in the city of Ferguson when he was gunned down at
about 2:15 p.m in the middle of the street.

It’s still unclear why the police man opened fire but eye-witnesses said Michael was unarmed and his
hands up in the air when he was shot after an argument between Michael and the police man.

“The police shot again and once my friend felt that shot, he turned around and put his hands in the air,”

said witness Dorian Johnson.

“He started to get down and the officer still approached with his weapon drawn and fired several more shots.”

His grandmother said she was driving through her neighborhood Saturday afternoon when she saw her grandson walking a few blocks from her house. After she arrived home minutes later, she heard a commotion and ran outside to see his body on the pavement nearby.

Michael’s killing triggered outrage among residents who gathered at the scene cursing and shouting

“kill the police”

St Louis Police spokesman said they are trying to figure out what led to the shooting, promising a

“lengthy investigation.”
